Maggie Gayford is a New York-based actor and puppeteer who graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts School of Drama.

Born and raised in Warsaw, New York, Maggie grew up surrounded by educators and storytellers, discovering acting  through the desire to combine the stories she found in books and the joyful spontaneity of musical and dance performance. She was accepted to UNCSA's BFA Acting Program after transformative experiences at the New York State Summer School of the Arts and Stratford Shakespeare Festival.

Maggie developed her love of new plays and the intersection or arts and activism while interning at SPACE on Ryder Farm, and found that her desire to cultivate compassionate community through performing art served her in technical/production capacities while interning at the Attic Theater Company and Shake on the Lake Shakespeare Festival.  She recently completed her time as a Kenan Fellow at Lincoln Center Education.

In New York, Maggie is pursuing her goal of creating smart, physical, visceral performance that explores what it is to be human.
